One FC Coming KL June 23 (Taken frm TFN)

What does Kylie Minogue, Sting, INXS, Kanye West, Walt Disney and Sir Cliff Richard all have in common? The answer of course is that they all have had their events at the Stadium Negara at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Just like the biggest stars of all time, ONE Fighting Championship will be holding it’s next event and first foray into the Malaysian market at the iconic stadium. This was first announced last week in a press release on the ONE Asia Summit:

“In view of the skyrocketing demand for ONE FC events and the recent success of the sold-out ONE FC: War of the Lions event in Singapore, ONE Fighting Championship™ has made the decision to upgrade the size of the venue for its upcoming event in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The historic 8,000-seater Stadium Negara has now been chosen as the new venue for ONE FC: Destiny of Warriors. The new, confirmed date for the upcoming event in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, is 23 June 2012″

While the Malaysian MMA market has been quite active lately with smaller shows such as the Malaysian Fighting Championship (MFC) and the recently formed, GODS FC, there has never been a show of this size and magnitude. While it seems very risky for ONE FC to hold the first event in such a large venue, we don’t think anyone can deny that if there’s any MMA organization that can fill up such a venue, it’s ONE Fighting Championship. After all, it had a 7000 strong crowd in it’s first event ever that was held in Singapore, filled up a 4000 seat venue in Indonesia (which was another risky market to tackle) and it’s War of the Lions show a month ago blew worldwide audiences away. We got a feeling that this Malaysian event will be a success just like the others.

We’re expecting to see fighters from Malaysia’s no.1 MMA Gym Muayfit taking up a few spots on the card. After all, the gym boasts a roster of some really good fighters based in Asia such as Arnaud “The Game” Lepont, Raymond Tiew, fan favorite Peter Davis and Filipino sensation Eric Kelly. Another gym that might have a spot or two would be the guys from Johor based Ultimate MMA.

A year ago no one would have imagined that an MMA event of this scale would be happening in Malaysia. However, thanks to ONE Fighting Championship and the ONE FC Network, this is going to be a reality. ONE FC seems to be targeting bigger and bigger venues to satisfy the demands of it’s rapidly increasing fan base. In fact, a reliable source has informed us that the October show in Singapore will be using the entire Singapore Indoor Stadium. Which means, they’re expecting to fill up the whole stadium with 12,000 screaming fans. How’s that for awesome?

It really seems that ONE FC is THE Powerhouse of Asian MMA and it’s on the fast track to becoming one of the greatest MMA promotions Asia has ever seen.
